The summary of input received on proposals affecting the Sir Robert Borden area of schools can be found here.
Based on the feedback from hundreds of people who participated in the online consultation process, the closure of Leslie Park School ranked 12th out of the top 22 concerns raised. You will see that there is a very strong push to convert Knoxdale to a K-8 school to avoid sending grade 7 and 8 students to a high school environment that has not been designed to handle this.
While it seems like a good solution to solve the overcrowding at Knoxdale, folding Greenbank into Knoxdale would create a school of close to 1,000 students, pushing it to near capacity (again) and allowing very little room for long term growth.
Please continue to write to the Board and MPP Bob Chiarelli emphasizing that Leslie Park Public School should remain open so the Board has options for accommodating the changing demographics and new housing developments planned for our community.
