Leslie Park Ice Rink
For the first time in years our rinks were open for skating before December 25! In addition to our boarded skating rink, there is now a large puddle rink available for use anytime. Anyone who is interested in working as a rink supervisor or volunteering should contact Bernie or Sue at 613-829-0304.  Rink supervisors earn $8/hr and volunteers can accumulate community hours. Many thanks to Bernie Gold and the ice making team who worked hard to get our rinks ready.

Winter Carnival
Our Olympic themed winter carnival will take place January 30th, 2010.  Mark this date on your calendars so you don’t miss a day of fun and excitement.  More information will be distributed closer to the date.

Membership Drive
A huge thank you to all who volunteered their homes as drop-off points for the membership drive. A total of 75 families signed up for membership, raising approximately $800. All money raised goes towards community events.

Keeping Our Community Safe
In an effort to help keep our community safe, we ask that everyone turn on their lawn lamps overnight to help prevent car and house theft.  There are a number of houses who do not have their lawn/house lights on.  If we all work together, we can help prevent crime in our community.

Leslie Park Fun Day
Fun Day boasted a fantastic turnout, beginning with a bike parade, bingo, train rides and fun for everyone big and small.  Please visit our web site at www.lesliepark.ca to see pictures.  Thank you to the Fun Day organizer Lynn Hamilton and to everyone who took time out of their day to volunteer. We look forward to seeing everyone next year!

Playground
There has been a tremendous amount of work done on our NEW park.  The old
play structures have been flattened, the field house and bike path have been moved.
It’s really coming together remarkably well. We are excited for the warm weather
as the park will be completed in the spring.

Rezoning Update
The final proposal of the Morrison/Draper development includes a six, eight, and a 12 storey building and two 4 and 3 storey condominiums .  This proposal was approved by the City’s Planning Committee.  For more information please visit the Qualicum - Graham Park Community Association web site at http://www.qualicum.org/Public.asp.
