MAY IS MEMBERSHIP MONTH!
Why is a Community Association important?
- Each year the Leslie Park Community Association plans a variety of events to not only foster community spirit, but to encourage recreation and enjoyment of the beautiful area we live in.
- The community association is a vehicle to advance the interests of you, our community members. This may include representing the community before government bodies, boards of education, corporations, associations and other groups.
- The Leslie Park Community Association works in collaboration with other neighbourhood community associations on issues that impact us all. (ie: Baseline & Morrison high-rise development)
- Our city councillor has stated that he would be better able to represent the community at Council if there was an association to back him up.
- Leslie Park is a diverse community including seniors, young professionals and growing families. Your Community Association is made up of volunteers who take a responsible interest in community life. Additional volunteers and new ideas are always encouraged.
What does your membership contribution go towards?
- Some of the community services that are coordinated through your community association include:
- rezoning and by-law matters
- community improvements (new playground in Leslie Park)
- Leslie Park ice rink/ hockey day in Canada
- winter carnival
- community summer fun day
- community newsletter; community website (lesliepark.ca); etc.
- The community association holds an Annual General Meeting as well as other meetings to address any current issues affecting our community. All residents are encouraged and welcome to attend.
SAVE THE DATE: the Leslie Park Community Association 2010 Annual General meeting will be held on Monday May 31, 2010.
